TrustAdvisors was founded in 2009 in Athens by Margarita Vlachou (Chartered Tax Advisor, MSc Public Finance, Athens University of Economics and Business) and Andreas Petrakos (CFA, MBA INSEAD), at the height of the Greek debt crisis, when many Greek households and small companies were navigating tax law changes that arrived faster than any one accountant could absorb. Margarita had spent eleven years inside one of the Big Four in Athens and Andreas had returned from a decade in Zurich corporate banking; both wanted to build something smaller, slower, and unapologetically advisory — a practice that earned its fee from advice given, never from products sold.
